Northern Kentucky University Honors Capstone Project
"Many Faces of Medicine"

There are two parts to this project: artistic expression and an educational component.

The art aspect:

  • The desire was to produce a piece of art that emphasized collaboration and community regarding fields like healthcare, STEM, education, and creative passions

  • This allowed me to use my own experience as a pre-med who loves to create as inspiration.

  • I chose the medium of acrylic on canvases

  • Decided to have an abstract representation of the diverse and large pool of people who have helped me to follow my desire for medicine and stay creative

The educational aspect:

  • It was important for the artwork to not just have a visual appeal, but an educational one as well

  • The proposed mode of education would be a site that has all the information about the paintings and people in them (what you are reading now!)

  • Information on my community was gathered with a survey (check it out below!)

The best part to me? The duality.

Where I see the faces of those who have helped me, you can insert your own community. Your friend. Doctor. Professor. Mentor. Partner. Family. I encourage you to look at the finished project below and make those connections. Then, read more about the actual people who inspired the work.
